HISTORY

Rotaty club Jetpur charted on 20th June 1979 Rotary club of Jetpur was sponsored by Rotary Club of Rajkot, the 3rd oldest club in RI dist 3060.

Charter President Rtn Anantrai Chhantbar with 32 charter members started having wonderful experience of Rotary.

Within 3 years of its formation the club organized a mega cardiac, neurology, gastroenterology and hematology camp in which well-known specialist came down from Bombay and examine more than 400 patients out of which 35 cases were operated at Bombay at the cost of Rs. 5 lacs. Then the club continued its march in the field of service and fellowship and become a front runner in RI Dist 3060.

The major mile stones are as under.

In 1983-84 First District event “Intercity Meet” hosted by the club with record attendance at 350 delegates and with no registration fee.

In 1983-84 Rotary charitable trust was formed.

In 1983-84, A permanent Tuberculosis eradication centre was established, where Rotarian Doctors rendered their services. Patients were treated fully for a period of 9 months to one year, free of cost with medicines counseling and immunization to children. The centre continued to function for 18 years. The Cost of Medicines for every year were about 1.5 to 2 lacs, which were born by Jayshree Industries of Jetpur.

In 1986-87 First RVC of RI Dist 3060 was organized at village charan samadhiyala which was very active in community service

In 1987-88 There was a famine in the area and the club organized a series of medical camps in poor slums and villages, where free medicines and laboratory services were provided.

In 1988-91 A rotary community centres was built having a big Auditorium and rooms to facilitate community activities.

In 1989 Total 15 permanent polio immunization centers were organized and children were given polio drops every month.

In 1994-95 First ever door to door polio immunization done in the RI dist 3060, a novel idea to have maximum coverage and was continued for next 4 years, This idea was adopted later on by Govt of India.

In 1996-97 the club sponsored the first District Governor to Dist 3060, Rtn Dr. Chetan Patel who was nominated unopposed.

In 1998 Dist governor Dr chetan Patel leas the District to newer lights and provided undisputed and transparent leadership to the District, The club organized a memorable conference “FRIEND CON” , The memory is still cherished by the Rotarians of the District.

The club continued its march with various Rotary activities at the club and district level.

The Rotary family now consists of 55 member Rotarians and their families serving together. The club has sponsored 5 RCC which are very active.

2000-2004 The clubs participated in Matching Grant Projects.

OUR DREAMSs

1. To establish day care old age recreaction centre where senior citizen can enjoy their time, with a small discourse hall, library and a rest room.
